Q QI PUT a deposit on a new car and was told it would be delivered within four weeks. I accepted that it was delayed during the lockdown but the garage still cannot give me a new delivery date. Am I entitled to my deposit back? Sean Baker AYES.

The delivery date will have been one of the terms of your paying a deposit and now that this has been breached you can legally ask for a full refund.

MY TV was repaired during its two year warranty period. The problem has come back but I am now three days outside of the warranty. Do I have any rights? Paul Dack

IF it is exactly the same problem as you had during the warranty

period, the retailer will have to repair it under the warranty. The warranty will extend because the problem persists. In any case, if goods are faulty the Consumer Rights Act says you are entitled to a remedy and this entitlemen­t lasts for six years.

if it came with a warranty or guarantee supplied by a third party rather than this company. If that doesn’t help, you may be able to make a chargeback or section 75 claim if you paid with your debit or credit card.

Before the sale you will need to complete a “seller’s property informatio­n form”. One question is about disputes with neighbours. A lie on the form could prove costly.
