From Back Page ‘ United would go up another level if they sign Jadon’

the Bundesliga club’s valuation. Hargreaves, capped 42 times by England, said: “I think we have seen the impact Bruno Fernandes has had.

“And OK, maybe it’ll cost £10m more to get Sancho – but United have to get it done.

“These guys change teams. Bruno has changed Man United to a positive and with Jadon they would go up another level.

“If it costs £10m more over a six-year deal, then what’s that? Less than £2m a year.”

Dortmund are adamant Sancho (below) is staying in Germany next season, with United so far refusing to meet the £108m valuation.

But Hargreaves believes a deal can still be struck if United are prepared to cough up the fee in full.

Difference

He said: “In the current climate, it’s hard to spend so much money on one player when there is so much uncertainty. But if United can get it done, then they have to do what it takes.

“They showed with Harry Maguire and Fernandes that they are prepared to spend money. We saw with Bruno how a guy can come in and make you go, ‘Wow... what a difference!’

“And Sancho is even another step up from Bruno – hence the price tag.

“I think it’s just about getting the deal done sensibly. If it is possible to do that at £100m-plus. So although it comes down to money, for the impact Jadon brings you’ve just got to get that done for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“Ole knows that Jadon coming in can take them up another notch to the next level.

“His numbers are off the charts and with everything he brings to a team, who wouldn’t want the kid?

“He really, really is a game changer.

“Dortmund are obviously waiting for more money.

“But if you are United you know Dortmund are a selling club, they have been for a long time and even sell to Bayern Munich – their biggest rivals.

“With the utmost respect to Dortmund, the lads like Erling

Haaland and

Sancho know they aren’t staying there.“

Although director of football

Michael

Zorc says the deal is dead, Hargreaves believes signing Real Madrid’s Brazilian attacker Reinier, 18, on a two-year loan deal is evidence Dortmund ARE prepared to sell Sancho.

He said: “It seems no other teams in the world can afford Sancho outside of maybe Manchester United.

Talk

“And Dortmund already have the next one in there in Reinier on loan and they’ve signed Jude Bellingham too.

“You almost need to get everyone in a room at the same time to talk rather than emails and texts.

“I’d be surprised if Sancho to United didn’t happen. “But it’s kind of a strange situation with everything that’s

going on.”
