DOTTY DUCHESS DISHES OUT LAUGHS

-

reached COMEDIAN Katherine Ryan surely

e launchlaunch peak career joy on Friday with the of her own sitcom, the Duchess.

She plays a heightened versionn of herself in the Netflix show about a single mum.

Desperate for a sibling for daughter Olive, she turns to her ex, Olive’s idiot dad. Crude, funny

liners. and frank, there are brilliant one-ne-

geriatric The fertility consultant calls herer and she fliflips out.

But the best scenes are when she goes all tiger mum at theschoolschool gates, ssaying things we allallwishwishwewe could.coculd. “It is not that hardd to be a decentdecen f***ing mum!” she yells.

All hhail the Duchess, an absoluteabsolu comedy Queen. en.

UNTIL I saw Why Women Kill on Alibi on Friday, I’d forgotten just how much I was obsessed with Desperate H Housewives.

A deliciou deliciously dark comedy from the same creato creator, this has got the makings of another h hit female-led drama.

Glossy and fabulous, the show follows three wom women living in three different decade decades in the same house, each having marital strife.

Gi Ginnifer Goodwin is Beth Ann, left left, a prim and proper 1963

housewife who lives to serve her philandering husband.

Lucy Liu is the heavily shoulderpadded 1984 socialite, with heavy “Gabrielle from Desperate Housewives” vanity vibes and a secretly gay husband.

And Kirsty Howell-baptiste is the 2019 lawyer in an open marriage whose lesbian lover catches her husband’s eye.

With brilliant scenes, like Beth Ann’s sex manual moment, and a sparkling cast, this is the dead good thrill ride we never knew we were waiting for.
