PAUL LAMBERT has told his Ipswich side to forget all about Wigan’s woes ahead of the new season.

Ipswich face a Wigan team today in turmoil having lost a host of their star players, while manager Paul Cook has also left the DW Stadium following their relegation.

John Sheridan has taken over as manager at a club in administration searching for new owners to safeguard their future.

Tractor Boys boss Lambert (right) said: “I know they’ve had a bit of turmoil up there with some guys moving and the manager leaving.

“With the administration, it can’t be a nice place to work at.

“We have to play y our way, we have to play our game and not worry about what happens there.

“They are still a good team, they still till have some good players.

“Lee Evans, who I worked with at Wolves, is a really good player. It’s still a dangerous game. We have to play as well as we have been and hopefully get a result.”

Lambert has his own battle as he fights to keep striker Kayden Jackson am amid bids from B Bournemouth.

The Scot added: “He’s been really professional ab about it.” Sh Sheridan quit as manager at League of Ireland side Waterford after being approached by Wigan’s administrators.

The 55-year-old is a veteran of more than 650 league games as an EFL manager at clubs including Oldham and Chesterfield.

Appointed on a shortterm contract, Sheridan is up for the challenge at a new-look Wigan side who are unrecognisable from last season.

He said: “Regardless of the situation, this is a good chance to come and manage a good football club that – despite some well-documented departures – still has some very good players at this level.”
