Liverpool turf, the usually dour Everton boss Ancelotti broke into a huge grin and said: “I’m really happy and pleased for the club and the fans.

“I hope they celebrate because this was a good performance with a lot of fight and spirit. It is a good gift for our supporters.

Everton defender Seamus Coleman said: “When you have a world class manager in the dugout, you fully believe in these games.

“Once you are part of this club, you know the history about winning here. It means a lot to us all.”

United have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund star Haaland who could leave the German side in the summer.

And Solskjaer reckons his plan to turn the Reds into regular trophy winners will attract the best stars.
