SPACE INVADER

-

This puzzle contains eight interlocking squares. Each square has an eight-letter word reading clockwise or anticlockwise around it — but one or more letters are missing from each word. Can you write the missing letters in the eight blue squares to complete the puzzle? No plurals are allowed. When you have finished, another word will be spelt out around the shaded squares.

In each pair of shaded squares, write two letters which complete two six-letter words reading across — as in the example, which makes DRAGON and PLAGUE. When complete, the letters in the shaded squares, reading from left to right and top to bottom, will spell out a word.

EXAMPLE:

IF you’re an Apple or Samsung smartphone owner, you could be one of the 29 million people that may be entitled to a payout. Here’s what you need to know…

WHAT’S HAPPENED?

Consumer group Which? claims that manufacturer Qualcomm, which makes smartphone components, charged inflated costs to Apple and Samsung and that these costs were passed on to consumers. This resulted in people paying over the odds for their smartphones.

WHAT IS WHICH? DOING ABOUT IT?

Which? has filed a collective action on behalf of all consumers affected. If the Competition Appeal Tribunal gives it the green light to act as a class representative, Which? says it will be seeking damages for anyone who purchased an Apple or Samsung smartphone either direct, via a network operator or from a retailer after October 2015.

HOW MUCH COULD I GET?

Between £5 and £30 per consumer.

WHY ONLY APPLE AND SAMSUNG?

At present, it is only these two brands that have been identified as falling within this issue. However, other brands could be included in the future.

WHEN WILL THE CASE BE CONCLUDED?

The reality is that this is the type of case that could rumble on for years.

I HAVE been hearing lots of reports of people receiving texts and emails saying they are entitled to a “Covid grant”. The recipient is then directed to click a link to apply for the grant and of course, the scam gets under way.

Be aware that there are no such grants being advertised in this way and you should never click a link on a message like this.
