End find finishers

HUDDERSFIELD

- By ADAM LANIGAN at Deepdale

PRESTON Potts 23, Evans

67, Sinclair 80

IT WAS easy as one, two, three for Preston as they pushed hapless Huddersfield closer to the danger zone.

After scoring one goal in six home games without a win, North End trebled that tally in the space of 90 minutes in a dominant victory.

And boss Alex Neil was thrilled as his attackers finally found their range.

“Everyone will come away saying how well we played but the difference today was that we were clinical,” he said.

“This was a big game for us. If we had lost, we would have been looking over our shoulders.”

While Preston are tucked in mid-table, it’s now one win in 11 games for the visitors. They remain 19th and manager Carlos Corberan knows the Terriers have to stop the rot quickly.

Corberan said: “Football is not how many you create, it’s how many you score. It’s down to us to change the situation as what we’re doing now is not good enough.”

The visitors made the early running but Preston took the lead with their first real chance.

Ryan Schofield saved from Scott Sinclair, but the ball fell invitingly for Brad Potts. His powerful volley was straight at Town defender Naby Sarr on the line, who blocked it but saw the ball trickle agonisingly into the corner.

Potts turned provider after the break when his low ball was converted by Ched Evans, with another touch from the unfortunate Sarr on the way in.

Sinclair rounded things off for Preston with a fine finish to a glorious move involving Evans and substitute Tom Barkhuizen.
