PAUL LAMBERT believes Ipswich have a chance to secure automatic promotion – but admits he may not still be at the club to see it happen.

Alan Judge and James Norwood (below) struck for Town with Jon Taylor replying for stumbling Doncaster.

Lambert said: “We’re only 10 points off second and still got a game in hand, it’s not beyond the team.”

However, amid speculation American investors are close to buying the club,

Lambert added: “When a takeover generally comes in it’s 99.9 per cent I won’t be here.”

Doncaster boss Darren Moore said after Rovers’ fourth defeat in five games: “I was disappointed to lose a game we did enough to win.”

TWO goals from Jamille Matt and a Frank Nouble own goal eased Forest Green to victory over Colchester.

The breakthrough came after 26 minutes, Matt (left) getting a head to Aaron Collins’ cross. He claimed his second on 31 minutes, from 10 yards. The hosts were reduced to 10 men when Ebou Adams was sent-off but Collins’ deflected free-kick wrapped it up. Rovers boss Mark Cooper said: “Ebou makes a silly challenge. He is now ruled out for four games.”

I TURNED up at Goodison

Park to watch a match a few years ago and there were kids in Hi Vis jackets collecting litter outside the ground.

In exchange for a few free or discounted tickets the youngsters were learning a valuable life lesson and helping their community at the same time – all under the football club’s banner.

The Toffees are near the top of the tree as far as I’m concerned in their community work. They really mean it. Midfielder Tom Davies paired up with a young Liverpool fan in another community initiative to help vulnerable young adults.

Amid all the chaos of the current situation and all the angst over Premier League matches, results and rivalry, it’s heartwarming to highlight a story that should make those involved feel better about themselves.
