FORMER President Donald Trump’s daughterin-law Lara is to stand for the US Senate.

Mr Trump made the revelation during a surprise visit to a rescue dog fundraising event at his Mar-alago resort in Florida organised by Lara, 38.

The ex-president told the crowd: “I didn’t exactly prepare for this, but I was walking by and I heard everyone screaming.

“I want to thank Lara, who’s been so incredible.”

He added: “I hear she’s going to run for the Senate.”

Former TV producer Lara, who is married to Mr Trump’s second son Eric, 37, is considering a run for a North Carolina Senate seat which is being vacated by Republican Richard Burr next year.

THE boyfriend of a British woman who vanished from a catamaran in the Caribbean will “never give up hope” of finding her, a close pal insisted yesterday.

She spoke as Ryan Bane, 44, continued to work with local search parties hunting for Sarm Heslop, 41, on St John in the US Virgin Islands after the coastguard and police frogmen called off their own search dives.

The pal said: “Ryan is beside himself. He’s never going to give up hope of finding Sarm. He’s devoted to her. And he’s looking for her.”

Sarm is a former flight attendant from Southampton. American Ryan owns the 47ft Siren Song she vanished from in the early hours of

CHILDREN’S sketches of a flying saucer at their school were thought so convincing they were studied by the Ministry of Defence.

The alarm was raised in October 1977 when 10 pupils reported a spacecraft hovering near trees during lunchbreak.

A teacher separated the boys and girls aged seven to 11 and told them to draw what they saw.

The results were so similar she gave them to police in Macclesfield, Cheshire, and the case became known as “Close Encounters of the Playground Kind”.

Dr David Clarke, a professor at Sheffield Hallam University, was working at the MOD in 2009 when he found the drawings in a file.

He said: “It struck me because it was full of crayon drawings by kids from Macclesfield.

“Kids say all kinds of things but the teacher must have thought this was something to take seriously.

“Then this copper had written a report and sent it to air traffic control in Manchester to see if they had anything on radar.

“This dossier ended up being sent to the MOD in London and passed to the UFO desk.”

The Upton Priory School pupils were not the only ones who reported aliens that year.

Kids in Broad Haven, Pembrokeshire, saw a UFO parked in a field, and others at Rhosybol School, Anglesey, spotted a cigar-shape UFO as they played netball.

The truth is out there... but then this was the year of Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind – and Doctor Who was on Saturday

Monday, when it was anchored 50ft from land in Franks Bay.

He told investigators the couple went to a restaurant last Sunday night then returned by dinghy, watched Netflix and went to bed.

But at 2am he was woken by his anchor alarm, triggered when the vessel moves from its mooring.

as a charter business. It is believed they met last year in Grenada while she was on a transatlantic sailing trip. USVI police spokesman Toby Derima said yesterday: “Between us and the coastguard, we have covered a large expanse of water.

“We have found nothing. Our divers are confident Sarm is not in the water in those bays.”
