Rashford facing an England cup KO

-

against San Marino, Albania and Poland.

Rashford suffered an ankle injury in the recent derby win over Manchester City and although his latest injury hasn’t been specified, Solskjaer says it’s touch and go if he’ll help United in this cup quarter-final.

“If he can’t play for us then it is more difficult to go and travel with England,’’ said Solskjaer.

The United boss also has another battle – trying to keep Edinson Cavani at Old Trafford next season.

The popular Uruguayan striker, who signed a £9million one-season deal last October with an option of another year, is believed to want to return to South America this summer to play at Boca Juniors in Argentina.

His father Luis recently rocked United by claiming the 34-year-old star didn’t “feel comfortable” in England and wanted to be closer to his family.

Dialogue

Solskjaer then started talks with the striker and insists they are working hard to keep him at Old Trafford.

“We’re speaking to Eddy. Edinson is a top striker and whatever he decides to do, let’s see. We’re in good dialogue with him” said the Norwegian. “We want a competitive squad and we need someone up there to score the goals for us.”

After his father’s comments, Cavani posted a picture celebrating his goal against Everton with the caption “Proud to wear this shirt @Manchesterunited”.

Cavani, who has scored seven goals in 25 matches for United, has missed the last four with a muscle injury.

Solskjaer is keen to keep the former PSG and Napoli star who has offered United a different attacking threat and is seen as a mentor for the club’s young strikers.

United want a decision before the end of the season so they can plan ahead amid continuing links to a summer move for Borussia Dortmund goal machine Erling Haaland.
