Corrie’s Katie back on screen
FORMER Corrie star Katie Mcglynn makes her TV return this week in her first acting role since leaving the soap.
The 27-year-old is appearing in the new series of BBC hit The Syndicate, alongside her former co-star Kym Marsh.
Katie, who is best known for playing Sinead Tinker in Corrie, will take on the role of “feisty” single mum Georgina.
“She is very much rough around the edges,” said Katie, who needed no persuasion to sign up for the show.
“I remember watching the first series and fell in love with it. I always thought in the back of my mind, ‘I’d love to be in something like this if I ever left Corrie’.
“It’s really good at representing the workingclass Northern life and I just think it’s brilliant.”
Katie will be joining an all-star cast with the likes of Gaynor Faye and Neil Morrissey. But while things are going well for her career-wise, her love life is in need of a boost.
The actress told fans she is “10,000% single” in a fun-filled Q&A on Instagram.
When asked what her perfect first date would be, Katie said: “Erm anything would be decent right now. I’m a simple gal really. I love the outdoors so literally a pretty walk and picnic would be nice #cringe.”
The actress, who won a National Television Award after her Corrie character Sinead died from cervical cancer in 2019, also admitted that she was asked out on “a few” dates every week, but added: “I don’t trust online dating unfortunately, which doesn’t really help matters.”
The Syndicate starts on BBC1 on Tuesday at 9pm.
