MY HEART BREAKS FOR KATE & DEREK

-

KATE Garraway: Finding Derek on ITV on Tuesday was vital viewing.

The incredibly moving film followed the Good Morning

her Britain presenter as she coped with husband Derek Draper’s year-long and ongoing battle with Covid-19.

There were many powerful scenes, , particularly when Kate spoke to

of the

Derek via video. At one point, he breaks down in tears as Kate tells him how proud she is of him, while another time he admits he cannot cope and wants to die. “I promise you that I’m going to save you,” says Kate, with unwavering strength.

An admirably candid film from a brave family about the reality

of long Covid.

WEIRDEST show of the week was This Is My House on BBC1 on Wednesday. It was just the most insane, gripping nonsense that I’ve seen in ages.

Stacey Dooley hosts as four people all claim to own the same house and be the same person. Only one is telling the truth, while the other three are actors. It’s like Through The Keyhole turned into a bad panto by earnest drama school students.

“Fern 2’s story is all out of

whack!” said Fern 1, the bitchy LA socialite who slammed Ashford in Kent, the location of the converted barn, as “a glorified bus stop”.

And it got weirder. The four Ferns each had to win over the dog and cosy up to alleged husband Mark, while celeb judges Bill Bailey, Jamali Maddix, Emily Atack, Laurence Llewelyn-bowen and Judi Love squinted for signs of affection.

This “spot the imposter” game is truly awful. But do you know what’s worse? I’m hooked.
