Work continues on passport exemptions for those who cannot be vaccinated, such as pregnant women or
people who struggle with repeat tests. Whitehall sources were unable to say how long the passports would be needed but they are intended to be temporary.
Overseas travel will have a risk-based traffic light system when it resumes. But a No10 source said: “It’s too early to tell which countries will be on which list.”

Leaders at the Polish Roman Catholic church accused them of “brutally exceeding their powers, as Government guidelines allowing worship under sanitary rules were met”.
The Met said they had reports of “crowds queuing outside”, adding that officers grasped the sensitivity of the situation and were invited in to address the congregation. They said: “They found a large number not socially distanced and some not wearing masks.”
