Brady has belief

Gillingham 2 Northampton 2

INTERIM Northampton manager Jon Brady says he believes in the impossible as they battle to stay up.

Ryan Edmondson and Fraser Horsfall’s (right) late strikes cancelled out goals from Vadaine Oliver and Olly Lee.

“I totally believe in the impossible and the players have got to believe in it, too,” Brady said, with his side still four points from safety with only two games to play.

“While there’s a chance we’ve got to keep fighting. Today was one for our fans.” Gillingham’s play-off hopes are all-but over and manager Steve Evans said: “We could have gone up this year and that’s tough to take.”

Ipswich AFC Wimbledon

0 0 IPSWICH boss Paul Cook was critical after the home draw with AFC Wimbledon.

After Town goalkeeper David Cornell had kept out a Joe Pigott penalty to earn a point, Cook (below) said: “I have never seen a team lack every quality on a football pitch and not doing the basic stuff well.

“I felt we’re not far off a Sunday League team and you look at the stadium being empty and you’re so thankful

that it is empty. I can’t stand watching us play and that breaks my heart. That team does not epitomise what I like about the game, it is the total opposite.”

Dons boss Mark Robinson said: “The game should have been all over after 25 minutes (missed penalty) and that’s happened before.

“It shows you where we’ve got to but the players are really, really flat that we’ve only got a point and it’s still five unbeaten.”
