Rebels bound for red list

The players are likely to return within 24 hours of the Bolivia game – meaning they will be in quarantine for at least two rounds of Premier League fixtures.

Last night, one of the clubs said they were aware of the reports from Argentina but were unable to confirm whether their players planned to head back to South America.

England boss Gareth Southgate said it was important that football remained flexible and ready to adapt to the evolving Covid situation around the world.

“We’ve had players missing with Covid symptoms or coming into contact with Covid and you could argue that all of those things affect the integrity of the competitio­n,” he said.

“It’s just unfortunat­e the world we are having to operate in now. It’s not the norm and everyone is having to adjust and adapt.”
