FRANKIE MCAVOY branded Preston’s win against Swansea as ‘‘magic’’.

The Lillywhites fell behind to a cool Joel Piroe goal in the 19th minute.

But they bounced back in emphatic fashion with goals from Sepp van den Berg, Emil Riis Jakobsen and Ben Whiteman wrapping up a deserved win.

“I thought the response of the players was magic,” said Mcavoy (above). “I just felt how we pressed and harassed in the second half was excellent.

“Once they scored I have to credit the players, I thought they were excellent.”

Piroe headed over before Liam

Cullen had a shot saved as Swansea dominated the opening 15 minutes.

The pressure paid off when Piroe calmly slotted the visitors ahead on 19 minutes after Cullen’s pass carved open the defence.

But the lead lasted just seconds when Van den Berg drilled home at the back post.

Swansea keeper Steven Benda made two key saves from Emil Riis in the final five minutes of the half.

And they got their reward when Riis smashed home in stoppage time from Sean Maguire’s cross.

Whiteman curled home a free-kick from a Benda foul to wrap up the points for North End.

Swans boss Russell Martin admitted his side had been left wanting.

“It is a game too many, mentally and physically, for a lot of the guys,” he said. “When you go 1-0 up it is a chance to establish some control and the opposite has happened.”
