Dak back for glory

DAK PRESCOTT has his sights set on the future not the past in his quest to give Dallas their first Super Bowl in 26 years.

The Cowboys’ quarterback saw his 2020 season wrecked by a gruesome ankle injury last October, which saw his right foot turned 90-degrees outwards.

Surgery ended his season – and Dallas’s hopes, as they lost six of the next seven games and disappeared from playoff contention.

Now Prescott is back, and despite a last-gasp 31-29 loss on opening day against Tampa Bay, he played very well in his first game and is aiming to do something special.

Dallas will be looking for a better outcome tonight against the Los Angeles Chargers and Prescott (above) said: “You’ve got to have a short memory and let things go, whether it’s a win or a loss, a good performance or a bad performance.

“There’s things I could have done to help us win the game. Small plays that maybe ended up being big plays.

“I’d been preparing for that game and for this season since January, the moment I started walking again.

“There is a lot of work gone into this season so I’m not going to be surprised by anything.”

After six years, Prescott says that his appetite for success has not been dulled one iota.

He added: “This game means a lot to me. It’s something that has always given me pure joy since I was a little boy. My mum used to say that I would eat, sleep and breathe football.

“So much goes into it, Monday through to Saturday, that once I get out there Sunday, I’m having fun and I’m blessed to have the opportunity.”
