TERRIERS’ MISSILES MAYHEM Fury as Town player is targeted

BRISTOL CITY blamed the actions of one individual for the crowd trouble that held up play for several minutes in their defeat to Huddersfield.
Referee Dean Whitestone signalled both teams to go to their respective dugouts after missiles (right) were thrown as Terriers prepared to take a corner.
The action was held up for around five minutes and after the match City quickly issued a club statement.
It read: “Bristol City condemns the behaviour that led to a stoppage in play.
“An individual was immediately ejected and handed over to police following the incident, in which objects were thrown at a Huddersfield player.
“Such behaviour is unacceptable and will be dealt with in the strongest manner.”
Huddersfield boss Carlos Corberan said: “The referee told us he had stopped the game for the safety of the players.
“There were no comments I was aware of directed at my players.
“It was the throwing of missiles that was the problem.”
Robins boss Nigel Pearson was more concerned by his leaky defence, seeing his side surrender three points after taking a BRISTOL CITY: second-minute lead. “We were very poor through the middle and, if you concede goals like we did, you are not going to win games,” he said.
“At times, we showed courage on the ball and caused them problems.
“But the lack of resistance that we showed and the naivety at times was quite alarming, really.”
Andi Weimann gave City the perfect start, tapping into an empty net from Antoine Semenyo’s low cross.
Huddersfield should have levelled on five minutes when Zak Vyner fouled Lewis O’brien inside the box, but Danny Ward’s penalty was brilliantly saved by Dan Bentley, diving to his left.
The visitors struck back on 41 minutes, Harry Toffolo’s cross setting up Duane Holmes to slide a shot past Bentley.
Huddersfield started the second half with a bang, Daniel Sinani producing a clinical low finish.
On 55 minutes it was 3-1, Ward heading in a deflected cross from Sorba Thomas.
In stoppage time, Weimann reduced the deficit, firing home from a Semenyo cross.
Both sides had other chances and Semenyo hit a post with a secondhalf shot.
