MID-TERM REPORT

STAN’S PREMIER LEAGUE VERDICT

-

NORWICH CITY

Story so far? A club that’s full of lovely people. The

Canaries need to develop a mean streak. Until they do, the trend of boom-and-bust will repeat.

The aim? Staying up. Tearing up the theory that nice guys finish last – but don’t hold your breath.

Transfer window... busy, quiet or fast asleep? Who would want to join them? What kind of player is going there? No one of any note. Quiet.

Finish? 20th

SOUTHAMPTON

Story so far? Pretty much more of the same from Ralph Hasenhuttl. High energy, but lower-to-middling return.

The aim? Good question. I’m sure fans are asking the same. Survival, but no sign of real development.

Transfer window... busy, quiet or fast asleep? Fast asleep, unless one of the leading lights is cherry-picked by one of the big boys.

Finish? 15th

TOTTENHAM

Story so far? Not great.harry

Kane hasn’t been scoring and they’ve struggled, relatively speaking. The re-emergence of

Dele Alli is something, however.

The aim? Antonio Conte is a winner and a proper coach. Expect an uptick in performances and results.

Transfer window... busy, quiet or fast asleep? Quiet. Upgrades will come in during the summer. Conte may dip into the Italian market for a defender or midfielder, though.

Finish? 5th

WATFORD

Story so far? Erratic. They throw together players from everywhere and expect great results. It hasn’t happened.

The aim? To stay up and blood more players who they can turn a profit from. I’ve seen nothing from them to suggest they can grind out results, however.

Transfer window... busy, quiet or fast asleep? Arrival of three or four and the exit of three or four cannot be discounted. Such is the madness there.

Finish? 19th

WEST HAM

Story so far? Promising first half of the campaign.

Proving that David Moyes is a manager who knows what he’s doing.

The aim? They’ll be looking at gatecrashing the top six – but Spurs and Arsenal are better resourced.

Transfer window... busy, quiet or fast asleep? Fans will be hoping it’s quiet. Declan who? Greatest success will be keeping hold of the £90million England midfielder. A new centre-half is also on the cards.

Finish? 7th

WOLVES

Story so far? Bruno Lage has made them attractive and kept solid system left behind by Nuno Espirito Santo.

The aim? If Raul Jimenez stays fit, they’ll be mid-table.

Transfer window... busy, quiet or fast asleep? Super-agent Jorge Mendes may look to park one or two.

Finish? 11th
