Bojo a no-no as leader & must go-go

-

ONE of the biggest problems with the Government’s handling of Covid has been the messaging.

Not the “don’t have a party” while they had a party, “wear a mask” while they don’t wear masks, “don’t go anywhere” but still drive 200 miles for an eye test stuff. But the day-to-day communication between Whitehall and the country.

Not to be able to communicate effectively just adds worry to an already worried country.

And to not communicate properly with those on the front line is unforgivable. When Mr Johnson announced his plan - just before Christmas - for a million vaccines a day, it came as news to those who should have heard it first. Vaccine centres, doctors and nurses were the last to know.

Now the same has happened again. This time it’s teachers.

Desperate

With a proper thought-out, well-timed plan, schools are adaptable enough to respond to any crisis. But they didn’t get the proper warning.

Now many are left crowdfunding in a desperate bid to keep staff and pupils safe.

It didn’t have to be like this. Every new event shows the PM for what he is – a man without a plan. Lurching from crisis to crisis and leaving everyone else to pick up the pieces is not the way we want a leader to behave.

Mr Johnson looks ill at ease when delivering his press conferences, when he’s at the despatch box, when he’s giving a speech.

The critical moments in the running of the country are not for him. He is more at home relaxing in the Downing Street garden, chatting idly with his pals, in the sunshine, over cheese and wine.

He is not the PM for a crisis, hard work and tough decisions. He’s not the PM we need now.
