Sinead: My beautiful son is now with God
SHANE, 17, FOUND DEAD
SINEAD O’connor has paid tribute to her “beautiful” teenage son who was found dead 24 hours after going missing.
The Irish singer revealed in a heartbreaking Twitter message that Shane, 17, “decided to end his earthly struggle”.
Police had launched a hunt for the youngster – who Sinead had with her ex, singer
Donal Lunny – after he vanished from
Tallaght Hospital in
Dublin on Thursday.
Yesterday she said:
“My beautiful son,
Nevi’im Nesta Ali
Shane O’connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle and is now with God. May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much.
Please be at peace.”
Later, sharing Bob Marley song Ride Natty Ride, she said: “This is for my Shaney. The light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eye baby.
“You will always be my light. We will always be together. No boundary can separate us.” Police confirmed a body was found in the Bray area of Co Wicklow on Friday.
A photo of the last sighting of Shane in Dublin had been issued by police as part of an appeal a short time earlier.
Sinead, 55, known by her Muslim name Shuhada Sadaqat, had issued a plea for him to return, writing: “Shane, your life is precious. God didn’t chisel that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing. My world would collapse without you. You are my heart. Please don’t stop it from beating.
“Please don’t harm yourself. Go to the Gardai and let’s get you to hospital.”
Fans and stars sent condolences. Pogues singer Shane Macgowan told Sinead: “You have always tried to heal and help. I pray you can be comforted & find strength, healing and peace.”
Sinead rose to fame with the charttopping single Nothing Compares 2 U.
She has three other children – Jake Reynolds, Roisin Waters and Yeshua Francis Neil Bonadio.
