Motherhood Family

-

BECOMING a mother in 2013 had a profound effect on Kate, and she often speaks about the guilt she feels as a working mum.

But psychologist Lee says that parenting George, eight, Charlotte, six, and three-year-old Louis will have given Kate a vital new set of skills.

”What has become most obvious in recent years is how she has found a harmony of being a royal figurehead without losing her authenticity,” he says. “It is finding this groove that has given her a certain gravitas and influence – and motherhood has certainly amplified her evolution.

“Having three children and significant royal duties can be challenging, but motherhood itself is useful when bringing together a wider family, and certainly hones your communication skills, patience and presence.”

KATE has often recalled her happy childhood with parents Carole and Michael and siblings Pippa and James.

And Richard believes her family provided the perfect grounding and support network to navigate becoming part of the monarchy.

“I do think a lot of the credit should go to the Middletons,” he says. “The fact that she had a happy childhood, the grounding she had, the education she had…” But Kate has also had to deal with the fallout of Harry and Meghan deciding to quit royal life and their bombshell Oprah interview.

Richard says: “Very little has been said overall about the relationship between Kate and Meghan. But the fact is that Catherine and Meghan are very different characters. I don’t think they would ever necessarily have been close.

“The problems with the Sussexes put pressure on the Cambridges. It can’t have been

easy.”
