THE Premier League has created a monster – and it’s now in danger of turning on them.

We are not far off the ludicrous situation of finishing a 38-game season and not knowing whether or not a team has been relegated.

If it doesn’t happen this season, it could happen next.

Clearly, Nottingham Forest are not going to take their four-point punishment lying down – and owner Evangelos Marinakis has made his views very clear.

Everton have been docked 10 points – or should that be six – for financial irregulari­ties.

And now Leicester City have been charged, too. They don’t even play in the competitio­n any more – but could be hit with a points deduction – if and when they rejoin.

And there are stories circulatin­g that Chelsea are next in the firing line.

Dare we even mention the outstandin­g 115 charges against Manchester City?

Associatio­n is taking three special fragrances to their swanky hotel in Germany to make the players feel like home. It’s all part of the strategy to take the stress out of being away from home for a length of time. They could take the same away from the rest of us by ditching the gimmicks and just practising penalties.

Associatio­n and English Football League.

There has been resistance from the Premier League.

They’re howling at the wind. A wind of change is coming – whether they like it or not – and if they want to know the reasons why, pointing to the events of this week would be a good place to start.
