Defiant singer bounces back after troll hell

Pop star is supported by fans… & Lewis is taking a stand against bodyshamers – by refusing to wear bras on stage.

The pop star says that while some online comments have left her in tears, she is proud of her curves and won’t be held back.

Caity tells us: “I had a day off last week and went online, and there were these awful comments about my body and the way it looked in my outfits. I cried.

“I’m wearing mesh playsuits every night as I have massive t*ts and I can’t wear something restrictive.”

Speaking to us backstage in her home town of Southampton, she adds: “You know when you wear a bra and you take it off and it’s, like, ‘Ahhh…’ so I’m not wearing one this whole tour.

“I’m wearing nipple pasties, because they’re comfy. It’s like, ‘Shut up! Yes, I’m bloated. Yes, that’s a bit of cellulite. Grow up!’ ”

Sticking two fingers up to the haters, Caity kicked off her Still Learning show at Southampton’s O2 Guildhall on Tuesday with a sassy, prerecorded voiceover mocking the criticism.

She then went on to smash through a giant L-plate, symbolic of the show’s title. Dressed in a mesh tutu and fuelled by pre-show Vodka Red Bulls, Caity opened with I’m A Problem – a clapback to the internet trolls – then powered through an 18-song setlist like a Duracell bunny.

Since blowing up on Tiktok in 2020, Caity – who once stacked shelves at her local Co-op – has released bold singles including X & Y and Pretty Boys.

Never sugarcoating her words – either in song or in person – her lyrics regularly dish details of her disappointing love life.

But as we chat, Caity hints that romance may now have blossomed. She smiles: “I don’t feel the need to plaster my happiness everywhere.

My fans are crazy – if I had a boyfriend they’d just not leave him alone.”

Before fame came calling,

Caity auditioned for The Voice but was rejected.

She says: “There are a million auditions you have to go through, it’s b*llshit. I didn’t get it – then as soon as I’m blowing up on Tiktok, they were like, ‘Oh hi, would you like to come audition?’ No, thank you… you had your chance, buddies!” Midway through the sellout tour for her Still Learning mixtape, the BRITS Rising Star nominee is delighted to count Lewis Capaldi as a fan.

When she bumped into him in an LA dive bar, he sang her a line of I’m A Problem: “I’ve got big d*ck energy, bigger than half the guys I know.” Now she regards him as a guiding light. “Capaldi’s great,” she says. “In LA, he sat me down and was wonderful to me. I’ve only met him once but we’ve been friends online for a while.

“I’d love to get in the studio, do a little crossover emotional ballad from Caity and Capaldi.” Over to you, Lew…
