OAP’S HELL AS WONGA GRAN LOOKALIKE

- By SIMON DEAN simon@sundaysport.co.uk

FRAIL Enid Phillips is being taunted in the street – because she’s the spitting image of an OAP puppet from the Wonga payday loan adverts.

The 87- year- old great- gran faces jeers of “loan shark” whenever she pops down the shops for a tin of cat food.

A DEAR old- age pensioner has revealed her life is being made HELL – because she looks like one of the old biddies in a TV ad for payday loans company Wonga.

The controversial lenders – who charge the equivalent of several thousand per cent annual rates of interest – promote their near- usurious service using animated pensioner puppets.

But one of the puppets is the spitting image of 87- year- old Enid Phillips from Boston, Lincs – and the widowed great- grandmother ’ s blameless life is being made a misery.

Frail Enid said last night: “I noticed it a couple of months back. The kids in the street started shouting ‘ wonga, wonga’ when I went past. I just thought it was one of these silly immigrant words that the kids all use.

“But then it got more direct. They started shouting ‘ lend us some money’ or even ‘ you bleeping loan shark’. That’s when I found out that I apparently looked like a puppet from this ghastly loan company.

“Neither a borrower nor a lender be. That’s what my mother said. And she was right.

“Payday loans my eye. Back in my day we saved up if we wanted something. We didn’t borrow. Of course it’s all different these days.”
