BRITAIN’S INTERNET TROLL

Teen terrorises neighbours with Twitter hate campaign

- By SIMON DEAN simon@sundaysport.co.uk

A WARPED youth caused havoc in his street by sending vile twitter abuse to his neighbours.

Twisted teenager Alan Patterson, 19, bombarded no fewer than SIX residents of Cloverden Terrace in Crewe, Cheshire with online messages too upsetting to describe in a national newspaper. These included:

A baseless accusation that one neighbour regularly performs oral sex on vagrants

Another groundless claim that the wife of one resident has a feminine freshness problem that attracts infestations of flies

A lie that a neighbour’s daughter prostitutes herself for chips

The shocking – and untrue – allegation that one resident has anal sex… with CATS

The maelstrom of malevolence created a climate of fear in Cloverden Terrace as personal information included in the offending tweets made it clear a local person was behind them.

There were at least TWO fist-fights in the street as neighbours wrongly accused each other of being the phantom tweeter.

After being informed of the reign of terror on Cloverden Terrace, Sunday Sport investigators swung into action to track the offender.

Using space- age technology – and the fact the troll used the Twitter name @ alanthetroll – our men tracked Alan Patterson down to his mother’s house at number 25.

The unwaged teen refused to open the door when Sunday

Sport went a- knocking. After we shouted a request for an explanation through the letterbox, sulky Patterson yelled “Go away… I hate you!” before turning up his radiogram to full blast.

A neighbour, who asked not be named for fear of reprisals, said: “Oh, that little shit’s behind it, is he? That doesn’t surprise me one bit – little tosser. Just wait until my Brian gets hold of him…”

Twitter has been forced on the defensive in recent days thanks to a huge increase in online abuse by trolls.

Threats were made against feminist campaigner Caroline Criado- Perez and the MP Stella Creasy.

The boss of Twitter UK, Tony Wang, said sorry to women who have experienced abuse on the social networking site.
