ANDY STILL HANDY MAN FOR MOYES

- By GRAHAM CHASE

ANDERSON is set to get a Manchester United reprieve – but Nani still looks set to leave Old Trafford.

New United manager David Moyes has made it clear that he wants to add to his midfield.

But the Scot has failed with attempted swoops for Thiago Alcantara – who moved to Bayern Munich – and Barcelona ace Cesc Fabregas.

Moyes has put Everton star Marouane Fellaini right down his list of targets and has also been warned off a move for Real Madrid’s Luka Modric.

It has left Moyes accepting that he may have to look within as he tries to shake up his central midfield.

Michael Carrick has become a mainstay but doubts remain about Darren Fletcher’s future and Moyes would prefer Phil Jones in a defensive role.

Knuckle

That means Anderson – who had considered moving on this summer – has come right back into the picture.

The Brazilian, 25, is entering his SEVENTH season at Old Trafford and is now determined to prove himself.

The ex- Porto man has only shown flashes of his class so far but is now ready to knuckle down and establish himself.

Nani has a year left on his current deal and Moyes is set to sell him before the transfer window closes.

The winger suggested that he wants to stay on in England after bagging both goals in the 2- 0 friendly win over Crewe on Monday.

But United have not talked about a new deal for the ex- Sporting Lisbon man since he rejected an offer last summer.

Nani has now been offered to Monaco and Paris St Germain and both are tempted by the £ 8.5million price tag.
