Mourinho was a Totty target after his 2007 Blues fall-out

- By IAN WINROW

JOSE MOURINHO plans to kick- start his second Chelsea trophy haul today – but the Blues boss admits he could have been in charge of Tottenham at Wembley.

The Portuguese had a trophy- free campaign last year after returning to west London.

But the Capital One Cup final gives Mourinho the chance to pick up English silverware for the first time since he left Stamford Bridge in 2007.

Mourinho left Chelsea under a cloud back then, despite securing backtoback title triumphs.

He was a target for Tottenham after his Blues fall- out – but was prevented from moving to White Hart Lane because of the terms of his pay- off.

“I couldn’t go. I couldn’t train in England for two years,” he revealed.

Mourinho has been frustrated by what he claims is a “campaign against Chelsea” this season.

Matters came to a head last weekend in the draw with Burnley.

Bitter

The manager claimed four key decisions went against his side – including the dismissal of Nemanja Matic after a clash with Ashley Barnes.

Matic will miss today’s final after an appeal only got his three- match ban reduced by a game.

Mourinho admits it has left a bitter taste in his mouth.

He said: “Do I love English football? I would not change my feelings about it.

“About my desire to work for this club? No change. Exactly the same.

“But maybe in two, NO- GO AREA: Mourinho was not allowed to join Spurs

SUSPENDED: Matic three, four months, maybe I can change my feelings. In this moment I’m a bit disappointed, yes.

“My passion is the game. It’s not the media. The only way for my frustration to go away is to play matches and to finish matches with the best feeling.

“And to finish matches with the best feeling is not just because you win. When we lost our first game of the season, at Newcastle, I told the media this was the way I like to lose.

“Great referee, no controversial decisions, we played well and tried everything and were unlucky – this is the way I like to lose.”
