GIROUD: I WILL BOUNCE BACK

-

OLIVIER GIROUD admits he was embarrassed by his woeful Champions League showing against Monaco.

The Arsenal striker was hauled off after missing string of chances in a 3- 1 first- leg defeat.

That loss left the Gunners facing an early exit from the competition unless they can turn things around in France.

And it has increased the pressure on the Premier League campaign ahead of today’s visit of Everton.

Giroud is sweating on his starting spot, but has vowed to bounce back from his midweek horror show.

The striker ( right) said: “I am not a better or worse player than three days ago, it is just about confidence and keeping strong. I am really hurting, more than disappointed. It has been embarrassing for me.

“But I’ve never given up in my career and sometimes I have had tough games like that before.

Attacking

“It was difficult because nothing went right, everything was tough for me. I tried to keep focused but I understood why the MERSEY MOVE: Milner could go to Anfield in the summer, where he’d line up with Coutinho ( inset) who returns today boss wanted to substitute me. It was not my day.”

Everton boss Roberto Martinez reckons some teams are a “parasite” on the Premier League with their style of play.

Martinez shares an attacking philosophy with Wenger and the Spaniard reckons players prefer to work with them because they play an exciting style.

“There are parasite teams,” the Toffees chief said. “Too many times you see a team that go for being a parasite; they give you the ball, defend, be destructive.

“That system doesn’t develop players. It’s the opposite – every two years they burn players.

“I believe the way the game should be played is in a specific manner; taking risks, getting on the ball and relying on the talent of the players.”
