Bite of a shock in store for shoppers

- By BARNEY SAMUELS news@ sundaysport. co. uk

SHOPPERS got a nasty shock when they found a huge TARANTULA crawling around the fresh fruit section of a supermarket.

Housewives fled screaming in terror after the venomous eight- legged beast was spotted clambering over some apples.

Spider specialists were called in to trap the creature and it has now been taken to a zoo.

Oskar Henningsson, manager of the Ica Maxi store in Jönköping, southern Sweden, said: “In my 12 years I have never heard of anything like it. It was probably a once in a lifetime event. But everything went well, it sat still and we were able to catch it.”

It’s thought that the spider – a native of South America – had been left as a prank or an owner who had tired of it as a pet.

Adrian Odenlind, spider expert at Tropicarium at the Kolmården Zoo, said: “The tarantula has no visible injuries, which indicates that the staff did the right thing.” FANS of one- time Geordie Shore star and glamour model Aimee Spencer have been left devastated by news of the beauty’s death.

The stunna, who made sizzling sex movies under the name Carla Mai, fell from window during a party at an address in Chichester Terrace in Brighton on July 11, sustaining critical injuries. LOVED LOVER: Carla was a star of porn movies as well as Geordie Shore

She died last Monday at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Carla was just 27.

On Twitter, the model’s sister Daria Spencer wrote: “I can’t believe that my sister has left us. She put up a fantastic fight and I will love her forever. RIP.”

Fellow glamour model Sophia Knight tweeted: “RIP @ CarlaMai1 such sad news.”

Leah Maye added the tribute: “I only met @ CarlaMai1 once but just what a lovely, polite, smart young lady. Rest in peace, gorgeous.”

A man was detained over Carla’s death, and a 28- year- old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug with intent to supply.

Both have been bailed by police until September 5.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The 27- year- old woman who fell from a window of a Brighton flat has sadly died from her injuries at the Royal Sussex County Hospital on Monday July 18.

“The woman had been in a critical condition since she was discovered having fallen from the first- floor flat window in Chichester Terrace on Monday July 11 at 9.08am.

“Officers are continuing investigate the circumstances how she fell from the window.” to of
