TAIN AWARDS

- By BARNEY SAMUELS news@ sundaysport. co. uk

LAST week a whopping FIVE MILLION people tuned in to watch the heart- rending Pride of Britain Awards on ITV.

The Awards, which help recognise the incredible achievements of ordinary members of the public, also featured A- list guests like Prince Charles, Theresa May and Simon Cowell.

Tears

Tales of heroism, selflessness and triumph over adversity ensured that everyone watching sobbed buckets of anguished tears.

The emotionally- draining event was presided over by former sums ace and ‘ Rear of the Year’ Carol Vorderman.

While the Pride of Britain celebrated, as you may expect, the very cream of humanity, today Sunday Sport takes a rather different tack.

Welcome to a celebration of the wretched, the ghastly, the selfish, the sneaky and the vile.

These are The SNIDE of Britain Awards… HOST: Vorderman JUST a few years ago, the menace of the internet troll was unknown. Nowadays this unpleasant tribe grows by the day. But of all the spiteful malcontents who vent their poison online, few plumb the depths like overweight hatemonger Pope. Nobody on Earth with an internet connection is safe from Pope’s wickedness. An innocent Facebook post about a poor missing cat will prompt the Southampton-born hatemonger bombard to the bereft owner with images of dead felines. A joyous wedding photo will cause the sick spinster to make allegations of infidelity against the bride and noncery against the groom. When one family from her home city asked for help to send their poorly daughter to Disneyland, Pope’s online reply was simply too upsetting to repeat. She has just been released after serving three months in jail for online abuse, but a cursory glance at her Twitter feed last night shows she has not mended her ways.
