An insider said: “Kim Jong Un was livid and wanted his halfbrother executed on the spot. Their father Kim Jong Il – who was still supreme leader of North Korea at the time – had to intervene.

“But Kim Jong Un clearly never forgot and simply waited for his revenge.”

A female suspect Doan Thi Huong, 28, was arrested in Malaysia on Wednesday in connection with the killing.

Local police said that the woman was in possession of a Vietnamese travel document. They are looking for “a few” other suspects.
