STILL ALIVE: TV Hamster MIRACLE: Petrolhead Hammond scrambled free from supercar WHEN Richard Hammond cheated death – yet again – after a horror car crash in Switzerland, the entire world rejoiced… Or, to be accurate, almost the entire world. Because pensioner Gladys Filbert flew into a murderous rage when she learned the pocket- sized petrolhead, 47, had once more dodged the Grim Reaper’s scythe.

And the mild- mannered OAP took out her rage on pet hamster Clarkson, twatting the rodent to death with a hammer.

Retired librarian Gladys, 78, from Hebden Bridge, West Yorks, told Sunday Sport: “When I heard that Richard Hammond had been in another major car accident, I thought, ‘ Thank f** k, this time, surely.’

“But then I heard the smug little twat had survived.

“Will he not die?

Temper

“I’m afraid my temper got the better of me. I got the hammer that I keep at the side of the sofa and set about little Clarkson who was scurrying about on the floor.

“I just lost it and screamed, ‘ Die, you little f** ker!’

“I can’t remember what happened next but when I came to Clarkson was a flat puddle of fur and gore on my living room rug.

“So not only does Hammond refuse to die, he’s also – in a very real sense – killed my hamster.”

Quizzed about the source of her animosity towards Hammond – widely seen as one of the nicest men on telly – Gladys spat: “Because he’s a right little c** t!”

Ex- Top Gear co- host Hammond was filming for Amazon Prime show The Grand Tour when his motor skidded off the road at 120mph after completing the Hemberg Hill Climb in Switzerland.

The presenter managed to scramble MURDEROUS RAGE: Gladys free before the Croatian- made Rimac Concept One electric supercar burst into flames on a hillside.

Hammond injured his knee and leg in the high- speed smash and in a blog entry said he had “two sleepless nights and several hours’ surgery”.

Coma

NOT ALIVE: Pet hamster

The incident comes 11 years after Hammond nearly died when he lost control of a Vampire dragster while filming for Top Gear.

He was in a coma for two weeks after the accident at Elvington Airfield, near York.

Hammond, who had been driving at speeds of up to 288mph at the time, suffered brain injuries but made a full and miraculous recovery.
