Cannibal couple made burgers out of victim – after hubby had sex with corpse

- By BRAD CHADWICK in MOSCOW news@ sundaysport. co. uk

SNOGGING over a drink, they look like any other loved- up couple – but Natalia Baksheeva and hubby Dmitry are anything but ordinary.

For the gruesome twosome killed and ATE more than 30 human beings, cops believe. Many of their victims were young girls found on internet dating websites.

What’s more, the terrible twosome even made PIES out of their unfortunate victims and sold them to shops and restaurants.

Today, after obtaining EXCLUSIVE access to files on the case thanks to special permission from the Russian Investigative Committee – Moscow’s answer to the FBI –

Sunday Sport can tell the whole grisly story. The married couple, from Krasnodar, in the west of the country, were caught after Elena Vashrusheva, 35, a waitress at the military academy where they lived, went missing.

It later emerged that Elena had been killed in a vodka- fuelled row in the disused building the Baksheevs used as their “killing crypt”.

Elena was accused by evil Natalia of seducing her Dmitry. In the furious argument that followed, Natalia ordered her 35- year- old husband to kill Elena by plunging a knife into her.

Conflict

Vadim Bugayenko of the RIC, which probes serious crimes, said: “They were drinking alcohol together and it ended with a conflict based on jealousy.

“The wife complained and as a result her husband stabbed the woman.

“It led to the death of a citizen ( Vashrusheva, as she was later identified).

“Natalia was nearby and she incited her husband to kill. She was also actively involved in the murder.”

The Baksheevs then took the body parts back to their home, carrying them in a backpack.

They would have got away with their crimes had it Dmitry no lost his mobile phone.

The pair were arrested after a phone was found with pictures showing a man posing for selfies by human body parts. Road worker Roman Khomyakov found the Samsung mobile phone and noticed the hideous photographs.

Khomyakov said: “We were working near Gastello Street, putting asphalt on the road, when I found the phone.

“I opened the photo album and looked only at two pictures.

“At first I did not even understand what was there, it looked like a head and a hand. I thought pictures were real.”

Dmittry Baksheev came looking for the phone, the road worker explained.

“The man looked like he was homeless. He said, ‘ I lost my phone’.

“I recognised him from the pictures, so I did not return the phone. We said we knew nothing. He left.

“Soon, a police car came passed, and I gave them the mobile phone.

“I said, ‘ It’s your job, sort it out’.”

The police swooped and the scale of the Baksheevs’ crimes soon became apparent.

Seven bags of cut- up human remains were found in their fridge and freezer, and elsewhere in their home.

At least one jar with pickled human remains, and 19 slices of skin were also discovered in the macabre flat. The pickled remains belonged to the unfortunate Elena Vashrusheva.

A bucket and bag contained body parts. Another bag was filled with the dead woman’s possessions.

Many cans with steamed meat were found in their kitchen. There were also home- made videos – filmed by the couple – showing how to best cook human meat. Then there were the photographs. The pair had not just murdered and eaten their victims, they had taken snaps along the way. Police discovered gruesome photos going back to 1999, which is when investigators believe the killing spree began.

A police source added: “The earliest date of their culinary experiment is December 28, 1999 – the date on one of the photos.

“We can see a cooked human head on a big plate, surrounded by mandarins.

“They put olives into the eyes and attached a lemon to the nose.

“There is a picture of a dead woman and the scalp of another.

“And there is a picture of a male victim with a severed hand shoved in his mouth.”

After being quizzed by law enforcement officers, the pair confessed.

A police source said: “Going through a photo file of missing persons, the woman recognised more than 30 victims that they had killed and eaten together.

“She said that on one occasion Dmitry

had sex with the corpse of a victim – who they then minced and made into burgers.

“A psychologist was sent from Nizhny Novgorod to make her talk.”

Separate reports say Natalia was checked at a psychiatric hospital and found to be “mentally healthy”.

But this so- called “mentally healthy” 42- year- old woman baked pies and flogged them to local shopkeepers and the military base canteen where she worked.

Neighbours say former nurse Natalia made and sold pies to boost her income, boasted to cafe owners that she could supply ‘ meat’ and may have worked as a chef.

“I bake pies,” she told one local. Asked what she filled them with, she replied: “Whatever is around.”

Meat

Cafe owner Vitaly Yakubenko said: “It was in 2010. She was very active, asked lots of questions but mainly about where we buy our meat and fish and how fresh it is. She made clear she could supply meat. I said that we work only with certified suppliers.

“The police should look now where this woman may have worked as a chef and if she tried to push her products there too.

“For sure these cannibals were looking for places to sell their meat. It sounded to me like her main motive when she was looking for a job.

“Natalia told me she had experience working as a chef.”

The owner refused to work with her saying she looked ‘ vulgar’. “She never came back.” It’s also believed she flogged off her macabre delicacies to students at the military academy.

Police believe the Baksheevs found victims by setting up meetings on dating websites.

The pair then used ether and a Russian drug Corvalol ( the main substance of which is Phenobarbital) to make their victims sleep, it has been alleged.

The smell of the drug reeked from their room in a hostel at the military academy, according to neighbours.

Once asleep, the victims were killed and filleted, then their remains frozen or picked to be eaten later.

Police have established that Dmitry was an orphan from Siberia who was adopted by a childless couple.

He was in his teens when his mother Svetlana died of cancer, and his adoptive father threw him out of the family home even though he was underage.

Investigators say Natalia took Dmitry in as a teenager and later married him when he turned 18.

Their killing spree began at around the same time.

There had been concerns about the couple’s behavious for some time.

Natalia was sacked from her job as a nurse because she regularly turned up to work “too drunk to stand”.

And Dmitry was described as looking like “a homeless person, a tramp”.

A friend of theirs, retired air force communications officer Sergey Labintsev, revealed the couple suddenly attacked him on the false allegation that he had slept with Natalia.

“I could have been eaten too,” said the pensioner.

“I could have been dead. Last night I had a nightmare that they were making steamed meat from me.

“Some six weeks ago, I just survived. They could have eaten me if I had not been in good physical shape.

Butcher

“And I’ve known these people for many years and always helped them.”

Meanwhile, a close friend of the cannibal couple has been arrested over claims he met up with women on dating websites for the accused husband and wife to murder and eat.

Roman Sidorov – known as Angel – was accused of helping the suspected mass murderers pick up women to butcher.

The 27- year- old’s lawyer, Alexey Avanesyan, disclosed shocking details of his client’s recent interrogation by six investigators, giving a revealing insight into how police view the gruesome case.

“They suspect Angel searched for victims on dating websites and later passed them to the Devil for massacre.

“They tried to force him to say that he was involved in the murder,” said the lawyer, denying Sidorov – who worked with Dmitry Baksheev repairing flats – was in any way involved.

He added: “The criminal psychologist asked him, ‘ What’s your nickname? Angel, is that true?”

Sidorov allegedly confirmed the nickname.

Mr Avanesyan said the psychologist then accused his client of being an accomplice to the Baksheev couple.

“Then they said, ‘ You are a handsome guy, you must have found those girls for Dmitry, raped them and later you killed them and utilised the bodies?”

“Sidorov replied, ‘ Why do you think so? Am I an idiot? I would have never done anything like this. I can’t believe that Dmitry did such a thing’.

“Then the psychologist started shouting that they got him, they understand the roles, and finally told him that Dmitry’s wife had already given evidence against him.”

All three suspects are currently being held at a top security prison while cops continue their investigation.
