THIS IS THE BEST GANGSTER MOVIE EVER!
THE tills have been ringing out at cinemas all over Britain as film fans go MAD for the most highly anticipated release of the decade – Rise of the Footsoldier 3: The Pate Tate Story.
Sunday Sport was on hand to gauge the reaction from cinemagoers as they left the first screenings – and it was overwhelmingly positive with viewers LOVING the story, the violence and the throwback fashions!
Rise of the Footsoldier 3 was released in cinemas and on digital download on Friday and has already been a huge success, with some viewers declaring it the BEST gangster movie ever.
Set in 1988 it tells the story of Pat Tate, one of the infamous Essex Boys who ended up shot dead in a Range Rover in the notorious Rettendon murders.
But before his death, Pat – played by actor Craig Fairbrass – was a legend and Rise of the Footsoldier 3 tells the tale of his rise to power.
This prequel to 2007’ s Rise of the Footsoldier sees him double crossed over a drug deal and having to flea to Marbella before ending up inside, where he plots his rise to success.
Hailed
The film, which is in cinemas NOW and available on digital download, is packed with ultra- violence, gore, sex, drugs and rock ’ n’ roll.
It has been hailed as a return to form for the franchise following the disappointing Rise of the Footsoldier 2.
The cast is a veritable Who’s Who of British gangster film talent, with the likes of Terry Stone ( Bonded By Blood), Eddie Webber ( The Firm), Larry Lamb ( The Hatton Garden Job), Jamie Foreman ( Layer Cake), Josh Myers ( Bonded By Blood 2), Roland Mannokian ( The Business) and Billy Murray ( Essex Boys) in the all- star cast.
There are also appearances from Celeb Big Brother star and bareknuckle fighter Paddy Doherty in his acting debut, and legendary Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder as a nasty piece of work called Mad Dog who meets a particularly brutal and untimely end in the film.
And speaking of the singer’s appearance, Stuart Heritage of The Guardian said: “His cameo is brief, but indelible and, honestly, he’s really good.”
Our reporter attended the Friday night showing at the Odeon Glasgow Quay, along with glamour babe Jeana Brock, to catch the reaction.
Jeana loved the film – and she wasn’t the only one.
Every punter we spoke to thought it was fantastic, too.
Tom Morrell, 23, a trainee teacher from Glasgow, said: “British gangster flicks are my favourite genre and this was the best one I’ve ever seen.
“I’m not saying that lightly – I reckon I’ve watched all of them. And to be honest it’s probably the best gangster movie ever!”
While Peter Langley, 21, an electrician from Motherwell, said it was the most violent film he’d seen.
He added: “Some of the action scenes were so realistic it was untrue.
“There was blood everywhere and the fights seemed totally real. It was ace. Five out of five for me.”
And sports science student Liam Peterson, 27, from Glasgow, loved it so much he was planning to go back to the cinema to watch it again.
He said: “Absolutely loved it. Best. Film. Ever!”
