And, as usual, that discontent erupted on social media.

Many – mostly those of a joyless republican bent – whined about the cost to the public purse of a Royal wedding.

But the vilest comments were posted on a YouTube clip of Harry and Meghan’s first TV interview.

‘ Two Girls One Cup’ is a vile video from the early days of the electrical internet, which involves two naked women and a lot of vomit.

Guy Gibson’s Dog posted: “If I can have a go on her, I’d be happy to give this wedding my blessing. Otherwise, they can f** k off.”

Scatty Matt ventured: “I’d love to see Meghan on the toilet – doing number twos.”

Meanwhile, commenters on the Daily Mail website were, if anything, even more hurtful – harking back to the tragic death of Harry’s late mother, Princess Di.
