Freelance road traffic surveyor Barry, 44, told Sunday Sport: “Yes, I admit, in the cold light of day, it does not quite make sense. But I was absolutely furious such an iconic Norwich brand was leaving the city. And I’d had a few ciders.
“While my actions may not seem entirely rational, my fury is very real. Colman’s is part of Norwich. Colman’s mustard even featured in Alan Partridge.”
Unwed Barry added: “And yes, it hurt. A lot.”
Colman’s, which is owned by Yank giant Unilever and employs 113 people at its site in the city, will move its production to BurtononTrent and Germany.
The GMB union described the closure as “devastating news”.
