SO ASHAMED OFF MY CARRA TATTOO I CHOPPPED MY ARM BEFORE OFF WITH A BREAD KNIFE
A LIVERPOOL fan who loved Jamie Carragher so much he had his face tattooed on his right forearm was so furious at his hero’s latest antics he had it removed. But instead of waiting for laser removal after the ex- England international was caught spitting into the face of a 14- year- old last week, furious Tom Ward CUT OFF his arm at the elbow in a drunken rage. Tom, 35, from Walton, Liverpool, said he was “gutted” that Carragher – now suspended from his pundit role on Sky Sports – had done something so attrocious and felt he had to act.
But he admitted he now regrets the self- surgery, which he carried out with a serrated kitchen knife.
He explained: “Carragher was my ultimate hero. He embodied everything that is LFC.
“He didn’t have the skills of Stevie G but he always worked hard.
Unforgivable
“But what happened with that little girl was unforgivable. I’d given my heart and my forearm in my worship of Carra and this is how he repays me.
“Admittedly, I was very drunk at the time. I’d been on the Stella and Sambucas all day and was wasted when I got in.
“I fetched the bread knife from the kitchen drawer and just went for it. Despite all the booze it was really painful – and dead messy, too.
“There was blood splattering everywhere and just the sight of it was starting to make me want to faint.
“I got half way through, gave up, and called an ambulance, but the doctors couldn’t save it. They gave me the bad news the following morning.
“I must admit that they weren’t overly sympathetic about it, but maybe they just don’t understand what it’s like to be a football fan.
“I feel quite stupid now, to be honest. But Carra should never have done that.”
An NHS source said: “It’s always best to avoid trying to cut off you own arm.
“Not only does it hurt and leave you without a limb, you’ll
also find that the brilliant NHS staff has plenty of other people to look after.”
Tom is almost as sorry as Carragher, 40, who after apologising to the family and again on social media, has been dropped by Sky till the end of the season.
In a statement the broadcaster said he will “get the help he needs to guarantee something like this never happens again”.
A spokesman added: “Before the start of the next season we will sit down with Jamie to discuss whether he is ready to return to his role.”
