JUVE OPEN CAN AFTER FINAL

- By JOHN ANTHONY

JUVENTUS will announce new signing Emre Can — the day after Liverpool play in the Champions League final.

It’s been an open secret for months that the German would be leaving Anfield.

He will pocket a huge signing-on fee because Juventus are getting him for nothing after he refused to sign a new contract.

The 24- year- old has been out since March with a back injury as the Reds have marched into the Champions League final.

Boss Jurgen Klopp has tried to convince him to stay but Can says he wants a new challenge.

Juventus chie Giuseppe Marotta said: “I’m confident we will be able to announce Emre Can after the Champions League final.”

The midfielder has been left out of Germany’s World Cup squad and is not likely to be fit in time for Saturday’s final in Kiev.

He was signed from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014 for £10m and would have cost the Italians four times that had his contract been longer.

Fellow Reds midfielder Jordan Henderson has been talking about the togetherness in the squad that has propelled Liverpool into the final against Real Madrid.

They have been away in Spain for warm weather training this week and will head to Ukraine to prepare for their biggest game since losing the 2007 final against AC Milan.

Liverpool have scored the most goals in the competition — 46 — and Henderson is confident of pushing Real.

He said: “We are a close group and I think you can see that on the pitch.

“I think that’s important when you want to go far and you want to be successful.

“You’ve got to be close on and off the pitch, and I definitely think we’ve got that.

“It’s a special group of players.

“Now, we’ve just got to go and win trophies.

“It means so much to the players, to me, to the manager, and to everybody — you can see how much it means to us when we play football.

“You’ve also seen how much it means to us off the pitch, after getting to the final in Rome when we were celebrating with the fans.

“So it’ll be a huge night, but we want to remember it for the right reasons, and we want to go and win it.”
