FLASHERS, FATTIES AND WEIRDOS

-

A BACKLASH has started against nude cycle days, with participants being branded “flashers, exhibitionists and a whole bunch of weirdos”.

Nude cycling days are now common up and down the country and are intended to highlight cycle safety and positive body image issues.

But a growing number of objectors claim the events are merely a magnet for perverts who want to show off their meat and two veg without getting arrested.

The rebellion was sparked by a letter to the Devon Live website from a lady identified only as Mrs Nicole.

Mrs Nicole, from Plymouth, said she was visiting Exeter when she and her friends were confronted by a nude bike ride.

She stormed: “We were absolutely amazed to see elderly men on bikes coming through the town naked. We found it disgusting to see this – who on earth wants to see wrinkly old men showing their ‘ bits’.

“If someone pulled down their pants they would be arrested. If you pee in the street you are fined – so who the hell in the council thought this was a good idea. “Please explain.” Her letter struck a chord with other locals who added their own comments to the website.

One wrote: “Public nudity is unnecessary and illegal as far as I’m aware. A whole bunch of weirdos getting their kit out in daylight in front of kids and the public is offensive and ugly.

“Cover it up you strange and ugly people.”

Another stormed: “Perverted event that has nothing to do with cyclist safety, more an opportunity for weirdos to expose themselves without prosecution. Why they can’t be prosecuted has not been explained ! Disgusting.”

Another raged: “flashers, exhibitionists, fatties & wrinkly bits!!!! all of them well past their sell by date!!!”
