SHOCK EXCLUSIVE OUTRAGE AT KAREN MATTHEWS …THE MUSICAL

HAVE THEY GONE TOO FAR THIS TIME?

CRITICS have declared themselves “appalled” and “aghast” at plans to stage a MUSICAL based on the real- life kidnapping of nine- year- old Shannon Matthews.

Producers unveiled their plans at a London press conference – during which at least three theatre writers for London- based newspapers were PHYSICALLY SICK.

Back in 2008, Britain was shocked and horrified when little Shannon was apparently kidnapped from her home in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.

For 24 days her mother Karen appeared on TV screens alongside halfwit lover Craig Meehan pleading for Shannon’s captors to release her little girl.

It emerged after Shannon was found that her “kidnap” had been arranged by her mother and Meehan’s uncle, 39- year- old Michael Donovan, as a sick money- making stunt.

Poor Shannon had been hidden, drugged, under a bed at Donovan’s house.

Cold- hearted Karen Matthews had been inspired by the funds that flowed into the appeal to find missing Madeleine McCann.

The story was made into a BBC drama last year starring Sheridan Smith – but now famed Albanian impresario Andri Bardha wants to go further and make an all- dancing, all- singing stage show.

Andri told newsmen: “The story, it have everything. It have the pretty little girl. It have the troubled Mama. It have the subnormal lover with the spectacles.

“I say it out loud, I want to sing already! TRA- LA! It going to be West End gold.”

Noted critic Sheridan Arbuthnot winced: “This is appalling. If this ever makes it onto the West End, I for one will mourn musical theatre’s passing.

“It will be the end. I am aghast. Horrified.”
