Why can’t I get work as a primary school teacher?
FORMER teacher Brian Wilkinson can’t understand why he remains out of work despite his exemplary CV.
Brian, 46, is keen to return to a primary school classroom to continue with what he describes as his “true vocation”.
But the maths brainbox says he never gets beyond his initial face- to- face interview before being asked to leave by any potential employers.
He said: “I had spent years carefully steering youngsters through the minefield that is mathematics in order to prepare them for high school and the wider world beyond. It was the best job I ever had and I’ll always rue the day I decided to take a year out to explore the world during the 90s.”
Brian, who’s from Lowestoft, Suffolk, added: “It all went wrong when I hooked up with a bike gang in Hamburg.
“We were living pretty wild lives with lots of drinking, and one night a decision was made for us to get matching tattoos.
“When I woke up the next morning, there was a swastika on our foreheads.
“My hairstyle probably doesn’t help much either, but I can’t help it that I’m receding and wear a moustache to cover a cleft lip.
“But people seem to think I model myself on Adolf Hitler.
“Unless people are prepared to look at the book and not the cover, I fear I’ll never be allowed to teach the kiddies again.”
