Because, no matter what heights the 47- year- old’s TV career soars to, there are those who INSIST in dragging up the time she cheated on hubby Les Dennis.

And thanks to the electronic pillory that is Twitter, anyone with an internet connection can hurl virtual cabbages at Amanda’s unlined face.

A special investigation by Sunday Sport has found that scarcely a day goes by without old wounds being ripped open.

And the language used can often be cruel.

One Twitter user jeered: “Les Dennis weren’t famous enough so she had to slide on to Neil Morrissey’s pipe for a bit of extra publicity.”

Another commented above a pic of Amanda’s “surprised” face: “Did Amanda Holden do the hands- on- head fake amazement thing when Les Dennis confronted her about shagging Neil Morrissey?”

Yet another user suggested the affair made Amanda famous, sneering: “She’s only famous for doing Neil Morrissey behind Les Dennis’s back.”

Amanda married comedian Les in June 1995.

They separated in 2000 after her affair with actor Morrissey was exposed in the press, but later reconciled.

But the betrayal was too much and the pair split up permanently in December 2002 – divorcing in 2003 .
