MUM’S THE WORD: Sex with mum fantasy shocked viewers VIEWERS of Channel 4’ s Pure have been left shocked – and delighted – at its sexually explicit scenes.
The series, on screens now, explores the life of a woman suffering P ure O, a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder that causes constant intrusive sexual and violent thoughts.
In the opening minutes, viewers were given an insight into the distressing reality of living with the condition when main character Marnie ( Charly Clive) was forced to abandon a family function after becoming preoccupied with sexual thoughts of the guests, including one of her kissing her own mother. The scene shocked viewers, with one describing it as “soft porn”. Others admitted they had made the mistake of watching the show with their parents.
One tweeted: “Anyone else watching # Pure? I made the mistake of turning it on in the family room with my mum.”
Another said: “It’s soft porn, pure filth… I love it!”
However the majority of viewers praised Channel 4 for its honest portrayal of the condition, saying it was refreshing to see a depiction of OCD that wasn’t just counting and hand washing.
