FURY AS RIPPER GETS FREE OAP BUS PASS

- By SIMON DEAN

PETER Sutcliffe is poised to launch legal action – because he doesn’t like the photo on his BUS PASS!

The 72- year- old serial killer said the 1995 photo used by council bosses on his free travel card “makes him look fat and mad”.

And now he wants a new photo taken and a new pass issued – even though he will NEVER be free to use it.

Sutcliffe – famously known as the Yorkshire Ripper – will never leave prison as he’s subject to a whole- life jail term.

He’s currently caged at Frankland Jail in Durham.

A prison source said: “He’s taking the piss. He’s only getting a bus pass in the first place because there’s been a f** k up somewhere along the line. It’s ridiculous – the Yorkshire Ripper getting a bus pass!

“But in his time in prison he’s read a lot of law books and now he thinks he’s Rumpole of the Bloody Bailey.

“He says he’s going to get a judicial review of the decision to use this 1995 photo on his bus pass.

“And the way things are in this country, he’ll probably win it. We’ve already had to jump through hoops for all the trannies and suchlike.”

Although Sutcliffe will never be able to use a bus pass, the travel documents are issued to pensioners all over Britain.

The number of UK pensioner LEGAL ACTION: Peter Sutcliffe is demanding a new bus pass photo cons has soared – with a staggering FIFTEEN aged 90 or over doing time, figures reveal.

And there are 1,682 inmates in prison in England and Wales who are aged 70 or over.

The oldest jailbird in the country, convicted paedophile Ralph Clarke, is 103.

The rise is partially down to successful police operations nailing ageing perverts – including Stuart Hall, 89, and Rolf Harris, 88 – who are guilty of historic sex offences.

Prison chiefs have installed stairlifts with grab rails, disability ramps and anti- slip mats for their ageing cons.

A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: “The number of older prisoners is increasing just as the elderly population is growing.”
