MOST gents of a certain age TOSSED themselves into a froth after saucy news babe Moira Stewart revealed her SEX past!

In a candid interview, the 69- year- old said although she’s never married, she’s been far from celibate and has enjoyed “energetic, athletic relationships with all kinds of people”.

And she confessed she’d have sex with folk before even being formally introduced.

Moira, who joins Classic FM this week, said she relished the opportunity for romance.

She purred: “Boyfriends have been delicious. Particularly coming up in the Sixties, before Aids and whatever else. You didn’t even bother to shake hands… you had wonderful, open and how can I put this – energetic, athletic relationships with all kinds of people.”

Ageism

Moira, who has enjoyed a decorated broadcasting career spanning four decades, started out as a Radio 4 announcer in 1978 before becoming the face of BBC news in 1981.

After being dropped in 2006 amid accusations of ageism she made a return to the Beeb as a newsreader on Chris Evans’s breakfast show on Radio 2.

This month she begins her new venture at Classic FM reading the morning news and hosting two music shows.

Discussing her departure from the BBC Moira said: “This time it wasn’t a matter of being made redundant but a matter of having a fabulous challenge.

“With the corporation it was news and maybe once every three, four years a documentary.

“The wonderful Sunday music shows that I was doing were a very small portion, so if I had moved from news I would have had very few weeks of work.”

She said she is still a “great admirer and supporter” of the BBC.

Born in London, Moira’s love for music started from an early age.

Despite never planning a career in broadcasting, she became the BBC’s first black national newsreader.

And she told how she received hate mail from the first moment she took up the role.
