AS YANK KILLS AND SCOFFS HIS EX-GIRLFR
DORANGEL Vargas is known as ‘ The Hannibal Lecter of the Andes’.
He was confined to a mental hospital in 1995 after the remains of a missing man were found in his home, but Vargas was released two years later.
In 1999, police in San Cristobal, Venezuela, again found human remains in Vargas’s possession.
This time, at least 10 skulls and fresh entrails were found. Vargas admitted eating the bodies, but denied murder charges, saying the bodies were given to him.
That led to speculation that Vargas was being used to cover up an organ trafficking operation. Vargas was homeless and already known to be mentally unstable. During an interview, he claimed that eating people was like “eating pears”.
Vargas, now 63, remains confined to a mental institution. ARMIN Meiwes posted a personal ad online to solicit a victim for murder and cannibalism in 2001.
His sick post stated that he was “looking for a well- built 18- to- 30- year- old to be slaughtered and then consumed.”
Bernd Juergen Brandes, who did not know Meiwes, volunteered to be his victim through a German chatroom.
The two met and carried out the plan, which has been documented in gruesome detail.
They made a videotape when they met on March 9, 2001, in Meiwes’ home, in the small town of Rotenburg.
It showed Meiwes amputating Brandes’ penis – with his agreement – and the two men attempting to eat it together.
Before doing so, Brandes swallowed 20 sleeping pills and a bottle of cough syrup, likely causing an effect of slowed breathing and extreme tiredness.
Brandes initially insisted that Meiwes attempt to bite his penis off. That didn’t work, so Meiwes used a knife to remove Brandes’s appendage.
Brandes then apparently tried to eat some of his own penis raw but could not because it was too tough – or as he put it, “chewy”.
Meiwes then fried the penis in a pan with salt, pepper, wine, and garlic; he then fried it with some of Brandes’ fat, but by then it was too burnt to be consumed.
He then chopped the penis up into chunks and fed it to his dog
He was eventually reported to police after posting another personal ad seeking another victim.
Meiwes, now 57, was convicted of manslaughter amid questions of whether a murder victim can give consent.
He was retried in 2006, convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
