IF YOU THINK THE TV CHOICE SOAP BRAWL WAS BAD…

POTTED: Len Fairclough SOAP REVELATIONS: Norman Lightwater THE DADDY: Percy Sugden BRAWL: Actors Jamie Lomas ( and sacked Asan N’jie at the TV Choice Awards and I thought, ‘ pussies’.

“In my day, if someone walked away from a fight with all their limbs and teeth, they hadn’t tried hard enough.”

Norman said the best scrap he ever saw was on the set of Coronation Street in 1984.

He continued: “It was just after Len Fairclough ( Peter Adamson) had been accused of fiddling with kiddies in a swimming pool. Percy Sugden ( Bill Waddington) was new to Corrie at the time and was keen to make an impression.

“After filming was over, the cast would retire to the Rovers – which served real beer back in those days.

“Len Fairclough came in and you could see that Percy was in the mood for trouble.

“He went over and deliberately spilled Len’s pint. Len remonstrated and Percy got right in his face and spat, ‘ You’re nothing more than a f** king nonce’.

“Len shoved Percy but quick as a flash, Percy grabbed Albert Tatlock’s dimpled glass pint pot and twatted Len – right in the face. Stan Ogden was going to intervene but Hilda said, ‘ No, Stan chuck, you stay out of it.’

“Annie Walker ( Doris Speed) came over, all high and mighty and Len goes, ‘ Help me, Annie’ – but she booted him right in the balls and said, ‘ Dirty f** king c** t’. Then she gobbed on him. Honestly, you didn’t expect that off Annie Walker!

“Len was a broken man by now and crawled out of the Rovers with blood pouring from the wound where Percy had potted him.

“He was never seen on the Corrie set again and ITV bosses wrote him out of the soap.”

Norman added: “After that day, Percy Sugden was the Daddy on set. He was untouchable and ruled the roost until he left in 1997.

“There’s no hard men like him in soaps any more.”

Emmerdale sacked actor N’Jie last week after the fight with Lomas at the TV Choice awards.

An ITV spokeswoman confirmed: “Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.”
