BBC cat that thinks it’s a dog gets £7k compo after caretaker fed it MILK
A BBC cat that “identifies as a dog” has been awarded a cool £ 7,000 for hurt feelings – after a kind- hearted caretaker gave it a saucer of MILK.
The mog – which cannot be named for legal reasons – was certified as being dog- identifying by the BBC Diversity and Inclusion Compliance Unit back in May.
Beeb staff were sent a memo warning them to avoid “feline- centric” behaviour around the unnamed dog- cat.
But janitor Brian Pierce, 59, failed to get the message.
He was seen “putting down a saucer of milk” for the animal, “which made the dog- identifying cat experience feelings of anxiety, exclusion and mental harm”.
On the dog- cat’s behalf, the BBC Diversity and Inclusion Compliance
Unit took BBC bosses to court and won it £ 7,000 compensation.
However, last night BBC staffers were outraged at the payout.
One, who asked not to be named for fear of being found “diversity non- compliant”, raged: “So a cat that thinks it’s a dog gets £ 7k compo after it’s given a saucer of milk?
“I can just about get my head around a bloke in a dress wanting to be called a lady, but a cat wanting to be a dog?
How the f** k do they know?! This is political correctness on strong drugs, if you ask me.
“But you can’t say that these days because it could get you the sack or, even worse, sent on a diversity and inclusion workshop course.”
It’s believed megabucks
BBC presenter Gary Lineker is paying the cat’s compo as a goodwill gesture, rather than hard- pressed licence fee- payers picking up the tab.
