COOKING HELL: Mick was happy before one trick burger led to death

COMMITTED carnivore Mick ‘ The Meat Man’ Hanley loved eating animals so much he even ran a blog about his experiences eating at restaurants around the country.

The 31- year- old graphic designer claimed his meaty diet was a “philosophy” and “way of life” and reckoned eating a well- cooked burger was the closest man could come to God.

So when he was tricked into eating a meat substitute vegan burger by a cruel restaurateur in Birmingham, his world fell apart.

The prankster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was a fan of Mick’s blog and thought it would be a

‘ right laugh’ to fool him into eating a soya- derived protein burger by telling him it was beef.

He had no idea the joke would lead to Lancaster lad Mick’s suicide.

When Mick walked out of the unnamed restaurant his life descended into chaos.

He stopped working, started drinking and experimented with hallucinogenic drugs.

Several times he was found buried up to his neck in his allotment, declaring: “I’m a carrot, pull me up.”

In the final tragic post on his blog, now removed by family members, he wrote: “The damage has been done.

“I was tricked into betraying my religion, my philosophy and I must pay.

“I feel like some vegan c** t. I hate myself.”

The remains of Mick’s body were found at a pig farm near his home.

A friend of the family said last night: “A man has died because of a vegan agenda. It’s sickening.”
